At Fulcrum Coffee, we believe every coffee has a story worth telling. Behind every harvest are generations of knowledge, unique landscapes, innovative producers, and communities dedicated to the craft of coffee. This year, we’re honored to celebrate those stories through our Costa Rica Heritage Collection and a special collaboration with Brooklyn-based artist Brian Alfred.
Created exclusively for this collection, our limited-edition Costa Rica Heritage Collection tote features original artwork commissioned from Alfred, whose work has been exhibited internationally and is held in the collections of the Guggenheim Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and other major institutions. Visitors to our café may also recognize Alfred’s work from the mural currently on view, another piece inspired by the people and places that make coffee such a powerful connector across cultures.
This year’s Costa Rica Heritage Collection is especially meaningful to us. We launched eight single-origin coffees from Costa Rica, each highlighting distinct growing regions, processing methods, and producer stories. Our connection to Costa Rica runs deep: Fulcrum’s Vice President is a fifth-generation Costa Rican coffee farmer, bringing a personal perspective and longstanding relationships within the industry.

Transparency, storytelling, and art are central to how we share coffee. We believe coffee should be more than a commodity—it should be a bridge between the people who grow it and the people who enjoy it. Alfred’s artwork reflects that same spirit, celebrating the landscapes, people, and innovation that continues to shape the future of Costa Rican coffee.
The limited-edition tote is a reflection of these values: honoring producers, sharing authentic stories, and creating meaningful connections through coffee. Whether you’re enjoying one of our Costa Rican single origins, visiting the café to see Brian Alfred’s mural, or carrying the tote with you, we hope it serves as a reminder of the people and places behind every cup.
